Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual

Gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals experience the same difficulties in life as heterosexual individuals. Sexual orientation does not affect a person's mental health. Regardless of sexual orientation, many people benefit from professional help when dealing with difficult issues such as:

Depression
Anxiety
Relationships
Stress
Grief
Substance Abuse
Self-Esteem

In addition to the above concerns, there are a few issues that are more specific to gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals. While not all homosexual people will have these concerns, they are not uncommon:

Clarifying feelings about sexual orientation
Coming out
Dealing with prejudice

It is important to emphasize that it is normal and healthy to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Through Novo Counseling, I have experience working with members of the gay, lesbian, and bisexual community. NovoCounseling is a member of the American Counseling Association with division membership in the Association for Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Issues in Counseling. I embrace diversity, working with each individual from his or her own unique perspective.
