The teen years are a time of change, new
experiences, and growth for most adolescents. While this can be very
exciting and fun, it often presents difficult challenges. Some
difficulties commonly experienced by adolescent children are:
Low self-esteem
Feelings of loneliness
Feeling misunderstood
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship issues
It can be difficult for an adolescent to work through some of these
concerns alone. And for some teens, it is a challenge to find someone
they can trust. Individual therapy provides a safe atmosphere that is
built on trust. Therapy can address any of the issues listed above. Some
additional benefits of therapy include:
Increased self-confidence
| Finding a balance between independence and maintaining the
connection with family |
Improved decision making skills
Identifying future goals/achieving goals
Increased understanding of personal responsibility
Rebecca Simon has experience working with adolescents as a teacher,
mentor, and therapist. She is very successful at establishing a positive
and trusting relationship, even with teens that others view as
difficult. Rebecca believes in discovering personal strengths, and using
those strengths to overcome life challenges.
